St. Patrick's Day in America--A handsome and interesting picture by John Reid. The scene is a furnished apartment, and a mother is fastening the badge of Ireland's anniversary to the breast of a noble looking boy whose face is flushed with excitement. A little girl is waving a flag at an open window through which is seen a procession on the street below, in which are displayed the flags of Erin and America. The coloring is vivid, and all the details are bold and distinct, and the delineation of the subject is so simple and happy that the picture attracts a large share of attention. It was awarded the second premium for composition picture in oil. [P. 46.] Composition in Oil. Second premium, $20; John Reed, St. Louis. [P. 49.]
