A landscape by A.D. Shattuck and in the same collection. The subject is a level stretch of swampy land, with trees in the background, a sedgy stream and cattle also forming a feature. The coloring is subdued but exquisitely natural, and shows slow and careful work. It is a very pleasing picture. [P. 77; see entry 02580077 for related commentary.]
