Under the head of compositions in water-colors, in the same place, there are several interesting things. One is a Chinese picture. The interior of a room is depicted. An opium smoker is enjoying the fumes of the mystic drug, while two female forms are represented on the same couch. The vivid tints are extraordinary in their boldness, and are yet not harmonious or wholly unnatural. [Pp. 81-82.] 02570070)
