"Sunset in the Valley of the Platte," by J.R. Meeker. The property of Gen. John McNeil. A view of the great plains of the West, with the Platte river winding sluggishly towards its destination. A storm is passing away, and the lurid sun turns the entire landscape into a blaze of color which dazzles the eyes of the spectator. [P. 65; exhibited under heading: "Water-Colors."]
