Gray rain-clouds gathering thick and fast on a green landscape. This is a pleasing picture, and deserves a place by the "Mill in the Mountains." The sky is admirable. [P. 100.] "The Summer Shower," by De Schampheleer. It is a scene in Flanders. A level rural landscape, green with fresh verdure; the rain-clouds are gathering darkly, and the wind has risen. Some still water in the foreground is admirably portrayed. The whole painting is charming. [P. 109; see entry 02550044 for related commentary, and entry 02550059 for other work noted in this commentary.]
