A maiden has met her lover in front of her tree-shaded home, and he is welcome; but his dog is not welcome to a cat that, with elevated back and enlarged tail, stands near the threshold of the cottage. The dog seated behind his master, looks at the cat inquiringly. The picture is full of animation, and the forms of the lovers and their surroundings are well depicted.
