For the best Marine painting, E. Norton, of Boston, Mass., received the first premium, a diploma and $15. This picture represented a yacht out at sea. The green billows were swelling under a stiff breeze, and the white sails were filled with the gale. It was a spirited little picture, and the coloring of the waves, tipped with white foam, was quite skillfully done. [P. 98.]
