Upon the striking and very meritorious painting of "Pilot Knob at sunrise," by Julius Kummer--the majestic appearance of this vast iron mountain, and the wild scenery adjacent to it, are faithfully portrayed. [P. 81.] The first premium for landscape in Oil was obtained by Mr. Hope of New York City; the second to Julius Kummer, of St. Louis, Missouri. [P. 82.] Private Premiums. Mr. J. McNichol, corner of Fifth and Chestnut streets offered for best Landscape Painting, original, by an artist of Missouri, $25. Julius Kummer, of St. Louis, obtained the premium.
