Fruit Painting (Oil, Original).--Both the first and second premium were awarded the pictures of Miss S.M. Peale, of St. Louis, Missouri. [P. 82.] The two "Fruit pieces," by Miss Peale, of St. Louis--the melon seems to have cracked open at the approach of the knife! how luscious the inside! then, too, how natural the grapes, peaches and pears. [P. 80.]
