BUST IN CLAY, PLASTER, OR TERRA COTTA, Original and Life Size, Missouri made. 1st Premium, Diploma and $10; 2d Premium, Medal. A bust of BOYLE the Artist, by Mr. Peter Crummen of St. Louis, took the first premium. This is a very highly creditable production. It is pronounced a good likeness, and the execution is bold and vigorous. Considering that Mr. Crummen is a self-taught artist, he has evinced an original genius for sculpture, and needs only time and culture to attain celebrity in his art. [P. 96.]
