The Vanzandt Premiums. (Private Premiums by Dr. William Vanzandt). . . . Original Statuette from Nature of the Human Figure, or of an Animal--in clay, plaster, terra cotta, &c. The first premium, one hundred dollars, was awarded to an entry made by Junius Hempstead, Dubuque, Iowa. It represented a Highland Chief, and was executed in marble. [Pp. 101-102; excerpted from an explanation of the prize and its patron.]
