Basso Relievo cut in Marble or Stone, or cast in Bronze, Copper, Silver, or Gold, original. The second premium, Medal, under the last mentioned heading was awarded to an entry made by Mrs. Narcissa Crummen, St. Louis. This was a Basso Relievo, somewhat approximating a medallion cast in bronze, of Col. Benton. It was the production of the lady's husband, now deceased. The lady who took the second premium contested the claim of Mr. Perran to the first premium, on the ground that his production was not original.
