Of landscape paintings by our own artists, there was a considerable number, some of great beauty and truthfulness to nature. Beckett's representations of our scenery were particularly noticed for their true coloring and proportion, although, perhaps, a little too much elaborated. Several of the pieces were very beautifully executed. To Mr. Beckett, the committee would award the first premium for landscapes, a SILVER MEDAL. [P. 27.]
