Exhibition Catalogs
Date:
1876
Notes:
Appears in exhibition catalog as entry no. 333
A very charming work, by Andrea; one of his last. The boy has wandered into the wood, until, overcome by weariness, he sits down on the base of a tree to sleep. The characterization of repose and tired nature is truly good. The statue is reduced from life size, in pure Carrera marble. [P. 253; engraving on p. 253 is signed "N. Orr--Co." and depicts a young sleeping boy seated at a base of a tree stump and resting his arms and head on the top of the stump.]
