Exhibition Catalogs
Date:
1876
Notes:
Appears in exhibition catalog as entry no. 135
Few small figures can be more pleasing. The young man, with a wolf's scalp for a crown, is returning from the chase, with bird and hare thrown over his shoulder. The physical proportions of the man are a fine exemplification of the perfections of the early Greek. [P. 61; engraving on p. 61 is signed "M. Orr--Co." and depicts a standing male attired in classical garb carrying a staff over his shoulders.]
