This treasured relic of the "Father of his Country" may be pronounced invaluable, coming, as it does, from the hand of the venerable Peale--the only living artist who has had the honor of having Washington for a sitter. The portrait is characterised by the felicities of the Peale pictures, and gives us the immortal Patriot in a noble distinction of mien, features and expression. It is a very valuable canvas indeed.
