26 x 36. The ruins of a city which once has been mighty. Palaces are in ruins, pillars are prostrate and broken, the grass is over all the ways--no life there but a few wretched Gipsies, who seem all of mankind that remain. This is a powerful composition. [P. 60.]
Catalogue of Premiums. The following large and valuable Collection of Paintings, Statuary, Bronzes, &c., comprises the premiums to be awarded to the subscribers of the Cosmopolitan Art Association whose subscriptions are received previous to the 28th of January, 1858, at which time the Annual Award will be made.
