This is a Portrait of the Illustrious Washington, taken while he was a Colonel, before the Revolution, and when he was not more than 25 years of age. It has always been considered a faithful likeness, and is certainly a beautiful picture. It is one of the gems of this collection, and is especially valuable, in connection with the other portraits of the Father of his Country, in this Gallery, which together, present the features of the Great Original, at several different periods of his life.
