An effective picture, and one that RUSKIN would call great, for it possesses life, feeling, tone and color. Its truthfulness is apparent to every beholder. The luminous quality of the passage of sunlight it would be impossible to excel. Mr. BIERSTADT is earning for himself a proud position among his brethren, by whom he is acknowledged as one of the finest and most rising Landscape painters in America. His works are daily increasing in value, and are eagerly sought after by Art connoisseurs. It is not prophesying too much to say that this gentleman, in a very short space of time, will win for himself a high status in the world of Art of Europe as well as of America. [P. 13.]
