An Original by Vandyke. One of the best and most valuable pictures in the Gallery. [P. 13 (L).] In the Tribuna of the Uffizi Gallery, Florence, is a picture by Van Dyck, which has been recognized as the original or duplicate of this picture. It is entitled "Jean de Montfort." The Florence picture is a two-thirds length portrait, and shows as least one of the hands. It seemed otherwise to differ from this only in the countenance perhaps being a little less stern. [Pp. 13-14 (S).]
