Fishing Scene on the Coast of Normandy, (painting)
Appears in exhibition catalog as entry no. 169 (Sale info: $1200.00).
A pupil of A. Achenbach. The admirers of Achenbach will recognize all his characteristics in this remarkable painting by one of his most successful pupils. The desolation of the sea at low tide is effectively shown. The employment of the fishermen imparts action to the scene. The intense diffused light of the thin vapory clouds is reflected in a broad band from the foreground shallows. A very interesting picture. [Pp. 45-46.]
