Appears in exhibition catalog as entry no. 172
Executed entirely by a single spiral line begun at the extremity of the nose, and continued, without quitting over the whole face and background. [P. 15.] No. 172, is a remarkable artistic tour de force, it being executed by means of a single line. This of course is chiefly interesting as a curiosity, but its artistic qualities command our admiration as well. [P. 26 (supp.).]
