A distinguished Soldier of the American Revolution. He belonged to the State of South Carolina, and was appointed a Brigadier-General by Governor Rutledge in 1780. In 1811 he was chosen United States Senator. He died suddenly, June 1st, 1832, aged 97. [P. 21.]
