A patriot of the American revolution, born in Connecticut, in 1752. He was appointed Aid to General Washington in 1780, with whom he remained during the war; and at its termination accompanied him to Washington. In 1790 he was appointed Minister to Portugal. In 1797, Minister to the Court of Madrid. He died February 21, 1818, aged 66. [P. 16.]
