The scene of this historical picture is the steps of the Tower of London. The amiable young King, it will be remembered, ascended the throne when only nine years old, dying before he had attained the age of sixteen. Probably the interview depicted by the artist took place not long before the death of Edward, by whose successor, Mary, Lady Jane Grey was put to death. In this picture the color of the Munich School is manifest. It is full of pearly tones, and the atmosphere is rendered with admirable effect. [P. 4.]
