Appears in exhibition catalog as entry no. 132
Painted from life, obtained from Mrs. Farr nee Weston, whose family have hitherto possessed it. Sir Joshua having seen Mrs. Weston acting with Mrs. Siddons, admired her beauty so much, that he painted this portrait of her with a promise that she would give him another sitting in a different position, but ere he did so she died suddenly of fright, whilst sitting at a window in London learning her part.
