Exhibition Catalogs
Appears in exhibition catalog as entry no. 5 (Sale info: To Be Distributed).
Prize No. 5. HART'S Charming and Celebrated Painting of American Scenery, entitled "Woods in Autumn." Valued at Five Thousand Dollars. A Splendid Painting--size about 7 by 10 feet. On Exhibition at the Crosby Art Gallery. In this fine painting Mr. Hart has apparently surpassed his former efforts, and displays a grace and ease of brush, as well as a perfection of detail which is rarely attained by the landscapist. He has dipped his brush into the golden and scarlet hues of the season, but not too prodigally, and there is reason for congratulating him upon having achieved on this canvas one of his greatest works.
