Historical and Portrait Painter, born near Philadelphia February 22, 1773; learned the rudiments of his Art with his father Charles Willson Peale, previously [sic] to visiting England in 1801, but did not commence the study of its principles until he went to France in 1807; visited Paris again in 1809 and painted most of the distinguished Savants and Philosophers in the metropolis. Is now the proprietor of the Baltimore Museum. [P.48.]
