Was born in Maryland 1745; studied medicine in Philadelphia and afterwards kept an Apothecary shop in Fredericktown, Maryland; entered the American army in 1775, has been employed by the government in the western and southern parts of the Union for a long time, and now commands the army at New-Orleans.
