Exhibition Catalogs
Date:
1876
Notes:
Appears in exhibition catalog as entry no. 81
His View of Niagara is just that which one would take who delighted to sit, for hours together, upon its banks, at a distance such that the hoarse thunder of its waters should be softened into a murmuring rumble, a mellifluous droning cadence, so promotive of reverie, and where he might gaze upon the eddies, and whirls, and clouds of spray, undisturbed by the noisy clamor and the rude impertinence of men. [P. 410; exhibited under heading: "Paintings." See entry 00270077 for related commentary.]
