A fine specimen of the Roman school of art. The artist has given a fine expression of the despair and utter wretchedness which a life of pauperism stamps upon the faces of those most helpless of all beggars, the Italian Lazzaroni. A mother and her three children cling imploringly to the door of a house where they have sought in vain for shelter and food. [P. 405; exhibited under heading: "Paintings."
