"We recognize this to be a copy from Sir Benjamin West. We allow it to be a close one." [P. 303; Gottesman adds in foot- note:] "A reproduction of West's 'Cupid Stung by a Bee is Cherby his Mother' is in the Frick Art Reference Library. It was taken from the catalogue of a collection sold in London in 1927." [P. 303.]
