"The works of this artist are done in a style peculiar to himself, and generally possess considerable merit: the present adds to his reputation." [P. 300; Gottesman adds in footnote:] "'Time clipping cupid's wings' was listed in Daniel Bowen's exhibition in New York (Columbian Gazetteer, June 9, 1794) and presumably was lost by fire in 1807." [P. 300.]
