"To say that Lebrun is the artist is a sufficient testimony of its excellence." [P. 298; Gottesman adds in footnote:] "Charles Le Brun (1619-1690), French historical and portrait painter. A fine historical picture by Le Brun was listed in 'a catalogue of cabinet pictures, in the possession of Nathaniel Delvalletooth' as exhibited in the columbian picture gallery at 146 Fulton Street, N.Y., in 1818." [P. 298.]
