"Age has imparted to these a precious patina. The painter, (who is unknown) has contrived to give his colors the greatest transparency, and no less harmony, notwithstanding the extra- ordinary deepness of them. They are done in strength and grand- eur of style peculiarly interesting." [P. 292; exhibited with serial 01650002 under the title: "A Beggar Man and Woman."]
