MURILLO. No. 70.--THE ASCENSION OF THE VIRGIN.--This is a very interesting picture, and in every respect well executed--rich in colour and full of expression, in the second and warm manner of the master. There is a distant view of the Escurial in the back ground. Another by Murillo is No. 56. [P. 47; see entry 01630056 for other work noted in this commentary.]
