"STEEN, (John.)--Born at Leyden, 1638.--A great painter for the animation and expression of his figures. His touch is light, easy and free, and his colouring lively and natural." No. 32.--THE LESSON IN MUSIC.--This is a very pleasing and highly-finished picture. The artist has represented himself in this picture. Another by him is No. 66.
