"LEYDEN, (Lucas Van.)--This ancient artist was born at Leyden, in 1404. He painted in oil, in distemper and on glass. He died in 1503. His pictures are highly finished, but partake of the stiffness of the old Flemish school." No. 26.--THE VIRGIN AND CHILD--on metal--this is a fair specimen of the master, and in very good preservation. [P. 37.]
