"SCHRIECK, (Otho Marseus,) born in 1613. An excellent painter of plants, birds, reptiles, and similar subjects. There is a work of the kind by him in the Berlin Museum." No. 3.--The Lair of the Serpents. This is a wonderful specimen of truth and nature; the serpents in the gloom of their lair, and the charmed birds and other accessories, are the work of a perfect master. [P. 23.]
