It is recorded that Galileo, at the close of his examination before the Pope's Council, and after he had signed the recantation of his "damnable heresy" of the earth's motion, turned around and stamping his foot indignantly, as he pointed to the figure of the earth, exclaimed--"It turns for all that." [P. 7.]
