"This picture is extremely poetic in sentiment, and very fine in its richness, depth, and transparency of color. There can be little doubt of its being by the great master to whom it is assigned; and is deemed worthy of particular consideration of the connoisseur. It was one of Mr. Paff's greatest favorites." [P. 13; indicated in catalogue as an attribution only to the artist named.]
