Another of the artist's noble works. The scene is Morning in the Silesian Mountains. The plains of Bohemia stretch away into the distance, forming a highly-finished perspective. In the centre are two smugglers who have been down into the plains for forbidden goods. Their anxious side-glances show their fears of the Custom Police. The sides of the canvas are made up of masses of hills, which are complete pictures in themselves. Everything is, literally, true to nature. [Pp. 20-21.]
