This gentleman has recently made himself conspicuous and eminently useful by his portraits, landscapes, and other memorials of our Western Indians, among whom, for the purposes of art and literature, he has resided for years. With a liberal education he has chosen the profession of a painter, and has pursued the object of his ambition enthusiastically. [Pp. 21-22.]
