This is one of those simply designed and carefully painted domestic scenes which are now so deservedly favourites with picture buyers. A little girl to whom is left the care of a younger child occupies the leisure moments afforded by a nap, which her charge is taking in the cradle, to copy the illustrations in a huge folio Bible which she has set up on end in her grandmother's rocking chair. The picture is simple and characteristic in feeling, and the details are very accurately painted. [P. 11; price, name of buyer, and address of buyer noted by a contemporary hand.]
