(Deceased.) Mr. Kensett died suddenly in his studio in New York, Dec. 14, 1872, at the age of fifty-four. In 1848, he was elected a member of the National Academy of Design, and in 1859, was appointed on the National Art Commission. Before his death he had obtained the reputation of being one of the greatest of our landscape painters.
