(Painted expressly for the Art Union by A.F. Tait.) As a painter of birds, and particularly of their young, Mr. Tait has no equal in the world. His pictures are always engaged months in advance and at any price he chooses to name. These paintings were both done the present year, and Mr. Tait himself says of them: "They are the best chicken pictures I have yet ever done." [P. 4; exhibited under heading: "Oil Paintings." See entry 00800003 for related work.]
