Reni, Guido
Type:
Paintings
Exhibition Catalogs
Date:
1876
Notes:
Appears in exhibition catalog as entry no. 17 (Sale info: $1000.00).
This picture, an undoubted original, is in Guido's grand style, and was obtained from a convent near Florence, which he frequented. The soul is awed by the overwhelming grandeur of the head of the Almighty, and equally impressed with the heavenly softness of that of the Angel. The contrast of the two produces a striking effect. $10,000. [P. 4.]
