Exhibition Catalogs
Appears in exhibition catalog as entry no. 12
This picture is by Lucas Giordano, an Italian painter, born in 1629. He is distingiushed for a fruitful and fine imagination, surprising readiness and freedom of hand, an agreeable tone of colouring, and generally, correctness of design. The colouring of this picture is in the style of Rubens, fresh and brilliant, and has a striking effect by the brightness of its colours. Giordano was one of the most fortunate of the Italian painters, and had great honours and riches bestowed upon him by monarchs. [P. 2; exhibited under heading: "Oil Paintings."]
