According to Ortiz (2011, Novon 21: 357) the type gathering (including the holotype at NY) is a mixed collection representing 2 different plant families. As cited and annotated, the isolectotype is the male inflorescence and leafless branch on the left-hand side of the sheet; the leafy stems belong to Euphorbiaceae (Tragia sp.?).
