Description:
Large egg basket with handle and braided twine on the non-handle ends of the basket. An egg basket is a rib basket with rounded woven halves that would traditionally be used to keep eggs from rolling against one another in the basket. The indentation at the center also allowed the basket to rest more easily on a person's hip or on the neck of a horse or mule, and thus the basket may also be called a "hip" or "neck" basket.
